Description

EVEministrator

EVE from Stellar Blade is fully swapped in over Endfield’s Female Endministrator, turning her into the EVEministrator. This update also includes a v2 option for the Endmin head version.

Update 2.1: Eyebrows were added because they were missed during earlier component adjustments.

I know some people found EVE’s original face a little unsettling because Stellar Blade and Endfield are very different in both style and engine. To improve that, I made a v2 version that uses Female Endmin’s head, neck, and hair completely, while still keeping her unmasked. The result should blend much more naturally. The weighting is also improved, although it is still not perfect. Because of the height difference, EVE was scaled down to Endmin’s height, the gloves and hands were adjusted, and Endmin’s head was reduced to 90 percent size since it looked a bit like a bobblehead with her larger coat compared to the thinner body suit.

I will keep the original version available since it was featured on GameBanana, but I wanted to offer this more polished and hopefully more acceptable version as well. Enjoy.

Children from the stars, sent down to save humanity, a blessing of light, an angel…

I originally came up with this idea back in February, but real life kept me from working on it seriously until now. After nearly four straight days of work, I am happy to finally release my first full model swap mod, which replaces Female Endmin with EVE from Stellar Blade. I had already finished Stellar Blade and was only in Valley IV in Endfield, but the core story ideas felt similar enough that I thought the swap would be fun, since a girl from a space station coming to Earth, or Talos-II, to fight things seemed like a fitting parallel. EVE’s signature weapon, Blood Edge, is also customized to fit, replacing the standard purple-quality Prominent Edge sword.

If you want to swap in a different sword, first use EFMI to find the weapon’s Index Count through both the weapon menu and on-field view by cycling through options. Then edit Blood Edge’s INI file to match the correct values in these sections:

  • Shading, Full Models Draw Call Stacks Processing, Weapon Menu.

  • Shading, LoD Models Draw Call Stacks Processing, On Field.

For Prominent Edge, the index values are 6144 in the weapon menu and 3048 on field, so replace those numbers with the values for your own weapon.

Since this is my first swap, I know the model is not flawless. Some of EVE’s green silk-like sheen from the chest upward appears black instead of green, a few small mechanical parts may have the wrong textures, and her white neck lace was removed along with the glass-like back cape because of the complexity of the weighting. Her arms are also not perfectly smooth and can look a bit lanky when bent, especially around the shoulders when she raises her arms. EVE’s face is a little stoic as well, and like Endmin, she does not have mouth movement, though her eyes do blink. The skin also has a sheen, which is a current limitation of XXMI and the modding setup, although I reduced it as much as possible through normal mapping. EVE is taller than Endmin too, so her hands do not line up perfectly with weapons. Bringing a model built for UE4 into Unity is not simple, but even with those issues, I think the result looks strong overall.

Because EVE originally uses only a small number of textures, this mod needed texture slot expansion, which is why the default version includes many rebuilt high-resolution textures ranging from 2K to 8K. That makes the main mod close to 500 MB. If you are worried about memory leaks, low VRAM, running out of VRAM, or weaker hardware, you should use the 1080p version instead, which reduces the size to about 55 MB.

Even with all the challenges, this project was a great learning experience for improving my Blender-to-Endfield workflow. EVE includes all of Endmin’s LODs, so she should stay modded at all distances. If her weapon appears gray at first, give the game some time to load the data, or open the character weapon screen and it should load quickly and then appear correctly in-game.

Updated for v1.1.0e.

To install, download and install XXMI / EFMI from the official GitHub release, then place the EVEministrator_Final, EVEministrator_Final_1080p, EVEministrator_Endmin_Final_Mod, or EVEministrator_Endmin_Final_1080p_Mod folder, along with the Blood_Edge_Over_Prominent_Edge_Sword_Mod, into the Mods folder.
