Description

Better Vehicles is a collection of balanced vehicle tweaks covering speed, camera behavior, storage, and more. It affects the Tadpole and its chassis variants, making each one feel a bit more polished and distinct.

The basic Tadpole gets 8 upgrade slots, along with slightly improved base speed and strafe speed. The Scout chassis is made much faster, gains better strafing, and loses some inertia so it feels less like a rubber ball. The Haul chassis gets a small speed boost while still feeling heavy, plus 35 cargo slots and a less aggressive camera filter with no film grain or vignette.

There is also an optional wake maker speed boost increase, and this version is faster than the boost in Fin Faster at 850 compared to 400. If both are installed, this mod’s version takes priority. Another optional change disables the seat and handle hint/highlight for the Haul chassis, which is especially useful in single player so you do not accidentally interact with it while trying to drive.

A lighter version with only one change is included in the Misc Files section: it raises upgrade slots from 4 to 8.

Installation

1. Install one main version of Better Vehicles and any optional files you want.

2. Extract the 9 .utoc, .ucas, and .pak files from the archive into:
   ...\steamapps\common\Subnautica2\Subnautica2\Content\Paks\~mods

3. Create the ~mods folder if it does not already exist.

4. Install any optional files if needed.

Uninstallation

Delete the installed mod files from the ~mods folder.

Compatibility

This mod should be compatible with anything that does not modify vehicle assets.
