Description
Armor Mod
After personal balance testing, I’m releasing this practical armor overhaul.
I’ve added various bonus options and roughly doubled the base defense values.
(Recommended for players finding the game too tough. If it feels too easy, crank up the difficulty.)
Game Mechanics Breakdown
In the base game, armor only blocks enemy attacks (on behalf of HP) 1-2 times.
Let’s call this “Hit Points” (HP).
I’ve boosted these Hit Points to about twice the original defense amount. But if they fully deplete, damage rules kick in: enemies hit for 50-150% of their full damage. Characters might survive just one lucky shot at best. This doesn’t make armor feel truly effective.
Real armor should absorb multiple shocks. With that in mind, I’ve built this mod by enhancing the game’s existing mechanics.
Basic Armor
Includes a TU bonus: exceeds 100 to increase absolute TU value.
Resistance reduces damage by that percentage—this provides the armor’s real sustained effect.
Medium Armor (Basic Set)
Resistance doesn’t stack with basic armor; it uses the higher of the two values.
Stalker Armor
Only one effect per armor piece. Adding 2+ effects causes them to not work properly in-game.
Medium Armor (Stogger Set)
From Guardian armor onward, medium gloves gain psionic defense. Appears in upgrades after Warden gear (Guardian, Stalker, Vanguard).
Warden Armor
Medium gloves and up deliver stronger bonuses, but with major increases in weight and accuracy penalties.
Medium Gloves (Guardian Set)
Bigger bonuses mean heftier accuracy and weight penalties—giving players real choices to weigh.
This is the first mod I’m sharing from my collection.
I’ve posted examples of other tweaks in a general discussion thread. If there’s strong demand, I’ll release more.
Installation
Copy the provided ZIP file into your game’s template folder:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Xenonauts2\Assets\Assets\xenonauts\template
